Anti-filter drainage geotextile
The "water-permeable geotextile" we usually refer to is mainly non-woven geotextile (also known as non-textile geotextile). It is made of synthetic fibers such as polyester and polypropylene through needle punching or heat bonding, and its appearance resembles felt. Its working principle is to utilize the tiny gaps between the fibers, allowing water molecules to pass through while retaining soil particles larger than the gaps.
In engineering, there is another type of material called "anti-seepage geotextile" (or composite geotextile membrane). It is made by bonding a layer of plastic film onto the geotextile, with the purpose of preventing water from seeping through. This is exactly the opposite of the "water seepage" function we have been discussing. When it comes to practical application and purchasing, be sure not to confuse them.
What role does it play in the engineering field?
Filtering and Drainage:Allow the water in the soil to drain out, but retain the soil particles.
Isolation:Separate materials of different natures (such as soil and sand) from each other.
Protection:Protect the soil from being washed away by water flow.
Reinforced:Enhance the overall strength and stability of the soil.
What are its key features?
The gaps between the fibers form efficient water-permeable channels, ensuring that water can be drained quickly.
While draining water, it can effectively intercept soil particles and prevent fine soil from being carried away by the water flow, thus playing a "reverse filtration" role.
It can maintain good tensile strength and elongation even in dry and humid environments, and is resistant to acids and alkalis, corrosion, and microbial erosion, being durable and long-lasting.
The material is soft and lightweight, making it very convenient for transportation and installation.

- The specifications of the water-permeable geotextile are mainly distinguished by the unit area weight (g weight). The common range is between 100 g/m² and 1000 g/m². The maximum width can reach up to 9 meters, and the length can be customized according to the engineering requirements.
- In specific projects, engineers need to select the appropriate weight and specifications based on the actual requirements of the project (such as the required water permeability, tensile strength, etc.).
