What Is a PPR Pipe Fittings?
It is a key component that connects PPR pipes, changes the direction of water flow, divides off branches or achieves the closure of the pipe end. It belongs to the same type of material as PPR pipes - random copolymer polypropylene. By using the hot-melt connection method, the pipes and pipe fittings are fused together after heating, forming a reliable, permanent and leak-free piping system.
These pipe fittings are pre-installed with brass or stainless steel threaded inserts within the PPR main body, and are used for connecting metal faucets, angle valves, mixing valves, metal hoses, etc.
The appearance and structure of PPR pipe fittings
Color: Common colors include white, green, and gray. The color merely indicates the difference in colorants and has no direct relation to the quality. High-quality raw materials present a semi-matte milky white or light yellow color, with a waxy texture.
Identification: The regular pipe fittings should be marked with the brand, specification (e.g. dn20), pressure rating (e.g. S3.2), and the applicable standard (GB/T 18742.3).
Structure: The socket of the pipe fitting is a concentric cylindrical hole with a smooth inner wall and uniform wall thickness. The depth of the heat fusion end complies with the standard (for example, the depth of the socket for a 20mm pipe fitting is approximately 14-16mm).
Common specifications representation
- PPR pipe fittings are indicated by the nominal outer diameter (dn). Common ones include: dn20 (4-inlet pipe), dn25 (6-inlet pipe), dn32 (1-inch pipe), dn40, dn50, dn63, dn75, dn90, dn110.
- 20mm × 1/2": Indicates a connection for 20mm PPR pipe, with a thread size of 4/16 (1/2 inch, approximately 20mm)
- 25mm × 3/4": Indicates a connection for 25mm PPR pipe, with a 6-teeth thread (3/4 inch, approximately 25mm)
