UHMWPE protective deck plate
UHMWPE protective panels, officially known as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene protective panel sheets, can be regarded as the "scratch-resistant and wear-resistant protective layer" between the dock and the ship. They are usually installed on the wall of the dock or the side of the floating bridge, serving as a "companion" to the rubber protective panels. When ships dock, they directly come into contact with the ship's hull, using their extremely low friction coefficient to protect the ship's paint and the dock structure.
Compared with traditional steel anti-collision plates, UHMWPE material has the following outstanding properties, making it the new favorite in modern ports:
- Super strong and highly durable：The wear resistance is 4 to 7 times that of carbon steel and is the highest among plastics at present.
- High impact resistance：The impact resistance strength is as high as 100 - 160 KJ/m², which is the highest among existing plastics.
- The coefficient of friction is extremely low：The static friction coefficient is only 0.07 - 0.15, and the surface has good self-lubricating properties.
- Weather resistance and corrosion resistance：It can resist seawater, acid and alkali corrosion, and with a special formula, it can also resist ultraviolet rays and ozone.
- Lightweight: The density ranges from 0.94 to 0.98 g/cm³. It is lighter than water and much lighter than steel.

Because of the advantages, UHMWPE protective deck plate is widely used in the world's major ports and wharves.
- Piers and abutments: Installed at the front edge of the dock and around the abutments, to prevent ships from directly colliding with the concrete structure.
- Lock and channel: Protect the walls of the lock chamber and guide ships to pass safely.
- Shipyard and floating bridge: Anti-collision guardrails for yacht docks and floating bridges.
