
PPR hot water pipe
PPR water pipes, officially known as polypropylene random copolymer (PP-R) pipes, are pipe materials made by extrusion molding from the copolymer of propylene and ethylene. This material's molecular structure characteristics give it inherent excellent high-temperature and high-pressure resistance, making it particularly suitable for use as connection pipes for heating systems, water heater pipelines, and other applications that require the transportation of hot water. Currently, most PP-R pipe materials on the market are produced in accordance with the national standard GB/T 18742, with outer diameters ranging from 20mm to 160mm and various specifications available.
How to distinguish between cold and hot water pipes
Look at the identification lines: This is the most intuitive method. The outer wall of the PPR hot water pipe is usually marked with red lines, while the cold water pipe has blue lines.
Wall thickness of the pipe: Under the same outer diameter, the wall of the hot water pipe is thicker than that of the cold water pipe. For example, for the same DN20 pipe, the wall thickness of the cold water pipe might be 2.3mm, while the hot water pipe would need 2.8mm or 3.4mm. This is because the hot water pipe needs to withstand higher pressure and temperature.
